AviClear Laser Q&A

What is AviClear?

The AviClear laser is the first FDA-approved long-term treatment for mild to severe acne. Its effects are long-lasting and don’t require prescription medication.

When your dead skin cells mix with sebum — the oil on your skin — it clogs your pores and leads to acne. AviClear’s laser emits a 1726 nanometer wavelength and focuses on safely suppressing your skin’s sebaceous glands — this reduces acne at its source.

The AviClear treatment at CSC Dermatology is convenient and quick, requiring only three 30-minute sessions.

Am I a good candidate for the AviClear laser?

Where some lasers are only suitable for certain skin tones, almost everyone can benefit from an AviClear treatment plan. The 1726 nanometer wavelength laser uses cutting-edge technology to avoid targeting and harming the melanin often found in darker skin tones.

Your sebaceous glands absorb the laser, not your skin’s pigment, which avoids hyperpigmentation.

You can seek AviClear treatment at any age — whether you’re scheduling an appointment for your teenager or yourself. If you have tried other prescription acne medications and they’ve failed, the AviClear laser may be an excellent option.

AviClear also allows you to avoid the severe side effects of harsh medications like Accutane®

What happens during and after an AviClear laser procedure?

Once your CSC Dermatology provider has determined you are a good candidate for the procedure, they perform the AviClear treatment in the office. The procedure is safe and painless. You can expect to feel a snapping sensation, but AviClear’s cooling feature, AviCool™, works with sensory controls to comfortably maintain your skin’s natural temperature.

After the procedure, you can comfortably return to your daily activities — AviClear has no recovery time. Your provider may encourage continuing your usual skincare routine and always using sunblock.

You can schedule two additional 30-minute follow-up treatment sessions and expect to see your acne improve as time goes on. Even after your last procedure, you may see results continue for months.

You can expect your breakouts to be less intense and less frequent after choosing AviClear. If you want to learn more, contact CSC Dermatology online or by phone to schedule a consultation today.
