Learn More About BBL

Does your skin show signs of aging or sun spots ?

Aging happens to all of us – between the sun, stress, and the passing of time your skin will start to lose its elasticity, texture and youthfulness. BBL (also known as Broadband Light Therapy, IPL, Intense Pulsed Light and FotoFacial) therapy can produce more youthful looking skin that is more even in tone and texture with more firmness.

Your provider can precisely treat fine lines and wrinkles, sunspots and broken capillaries with minimal to no downtime and little discomfort. BBL treats sun damage, age spots, freckles, acne, lesions and more!

What areas can be treated?
Virtually any part of your body can be treated but the most common are those affected by sun light. The most common are face, chest, neck, back of the hands and shoulders.

What skin types are best treated with BBL?
BBL treats a broad range of skin types. Patients with darker skin can be sensitive to some colors of light while those with lighter skin can tolerate these colors. Your provider will determine a course of action and discuss your treatment with you.

How does BBL Work?
BBL is light energy composed of different wavelengths that target skin discoloration in addition to heating the upper layers of skin to stimulate skin cells to regenerate new collagen.

How long will it take to recover?
Typical recovery and downtime is minimal and in most cases you’ll be able to return to your normal routine immediately and as soon as right after your appointment.

How many treatments will I need?
Your provider will work with you to achieve your desired look and will custom tailor a treatment for you. Typically one needs 2-5 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart to correct sun-damage. To maintain results, one to three annual treatments are recommended.

Your treatment
Each session, typically lasting about 20 minutes, is non invasive, and will result in little to no downtime. Prior to treatment a gel is applied to the treated area to maximize results of the BBL and protective eyewear is worn by the patient as well as the provider. BBL is then applied using a hand piece and the light is applied evenly across the skin. Afterwards, you may appear red or flush which fades within a matter of hours. – women typically apply makeup.

Your results
Everyone responds to the treatments differently so ask your provider what to expect. Typically, results occur gradually over a period of weeks following your treatment. Treatments result in smoother skin, with reduction of fine lines, pores, sun spots, redness, and pigmentation.
